One of the hottest Trendz in the automotive industries right now is Matte car wraps. At Trendz Print Media we use 3M scotchprint wrap films series 1080, available in a variety of colors, textures, and finishing, such as matte black, white, orange, pink, blue, army green, silver, gun metal, black carbon fiber, white carbon fiber, gun metal carbon fiber, and an array of metallics just to name a few!
People usually opt for these car wraps because as they look great and cost a lot less then a custom paint job. As well as they are removable; this is great for resale value. This is a sure way to protect the value of your car, and it will give your car a complete new look while keeping your original paint intact.
In order to ensure that your wrap is done professionally and properly you must ensure a few things are done so it will last for years to come.
1.) In order to ensure your vehicle looks like paint as it should, with a matte wrap you should have the following items removed:
- Door handles
- Emblems
- Lettering
- Light covers
- Rear view mirrors
2.) The vehicle should be washed with a mild soap before anything is done, the vehicle must be thoroughly cleaned especially in all the nooks of the vehicle to ensure that the adhesive doesn’t fail in the future. After the vehicle has been washed thoroughly it should be left to dry for 24 hours indoors.
3.) Once the vehicle has dried for 24hours and you are ready to apply the vinyl, you should take the necessary step to ensure a long-term successful wrap. The surface of the vehicle needs to be cleaned with Isopropyl Alcohol. Once this has been done you need to apply 3M primer 94 to the edges of the doors, hood, trunk, and any surfaces when the vinyl will be wrapped around to ensure optimal bonding, and prevent the wrap from lifting. Once the 3M primer 94 has been applied allow it to dry for about 30 minutes and then you are ready to begin application.
4.) Once the vinyl has been successfully applied we use a product called knifeless tape trim all of our edges to avoid any damage to the vehicles paint. Once all of the edges have been trimmed we go over the vehicle with a torch, and a heat gun to ensure bonding to the surface. Before the client picks up the vehicle we allow the car wrap to set for 24hours indoors to maximize the end result.
